WHAT IS GAINESVILLE OUTREACH?

Gainesville Outreach is a mission trip to the city of Gainesville. The students get a variety of teachings and trainings throughout the week. The trainings include things such as how to share your faith, prayer, and leading kids church. Led by adults and college students, we visit many neighborhoods and do different service projects around the city. We eat and share some of our meals in the neighborhood, run a “sidewalk VBS” for the kids, and get to know the people who live there. We feel we have so much more to learn there than we have to give, so we encourage students to give their time and attention and see what happens! Many students come back as leaders because it is such an enriching experience. We aim to equip these students to live on mission everyday, no matter their context. 

GOALS

EXPOSURE. Exposing Students to Missions and Evangelism. Engage students in selfless service to (with/in partnership with) community organizations that allow them to advance their mission. Have every student and leader share the Gospel with at least two people beyond GO participants and leaders. 

UNITY. Unifying the City and the Church. Build relationships and partner with churches that lead to unification of the Church. Build connections with children, teenagers, and adults in efforts to create discipleship opportunities in neighborhoods (city-wide) throughout the city. 

DISCIPLESHIP. Cultivate a passion in student’s hearts for seeking God, being with community, and living a missional lifestyle that leads to a “green” lifestyle. 

PRAYER. Unite in prayer for the city of Gainesville. Ignite a passion in students to accelerate their prayer life.

HOW MUCH

$90. This cost includes all meals for the days, and activities. 

SCHEDULE

This is an overnight event! Below is our basic schedule, which changes somewhat from day to day.

8.00: Breakfast

9.00 – 11.00: Personal prayer time, corporate worship, and teaching time

11.00 – 4.00 Lunch + time in the neighborhood & or service projects

4.00 –   5.00 Down time 

5.00 –   6.00 Team prayer time

6.00 –   7.00 Dinner

7.00 –   9.00 Evening activity
